NYC Nightlife
NYC is a great place for nightlife no matter if you are a tourist or somebody who calls NYC their home. NYC is known as the HUB of the Jazz world since all the greats made their names here and up and comers know this is the place to make it. As well as all the great Jazz clubs, New York has some of the most popular nightclubs in the world on offer. If you want to go somewhere to find a nice comfortable place to sit and drink and listen to music, there are a lot of lounges and New York has plenty of places. No matter your age you will find somewhere to party in NYC, every year there are hundreds of concerts held by famous musicians and countless comedy clubs full of well known comedians making your night an entertaining one.

Ace of Clubs was a nightclub recommended to us by New Yorkers, so after a £35 cab ride we found ourselves at its doors. However when we got there it wasn't really our scene. The music was really loud and the drinks cost a lot, although I'm sure many people would love it for a big night out. We quickly made our exit and headed back to the hotel to find somewhere else to go for the night.

Asking for help at the front desk we were told to take a look at 'ploose', which turned out to be a NYC nightclubs directory. All we had to do was enter our location (New York City) and were gifted with a list of possible nightclubs we could go to. Since we had spent so much on our first trip for a cab we decided that we would go to the closest one that was having specials on drinks. There were video tours on the 'ploose' site which we had watched before we made our mind up, and when we actually go to the club it was precisely as it had seemed on the tours. We started the night off with some 'grey goose' and ended up having a wonderful time. "The Pink Elephant was the name of the nightclub. After more hours and more drinks than is healthy we went back to the hotel and crashed out.

The next day was consumed by us being classic tourists, we wandered around Manhattan, eat in a few restaurants at random, headed to 5th avenue and eventually got back to our hotel as night rolled in completely burnt out. We checked ploose again since we were tired we felt like finding a low-key lounge and we found one nearby and decided that we would check it out The name of the lounge was the 'Sapphire Lounge'. The decor impressed us, it was very relaxing and gave the impression that you were just chilling out in your own front room with friends. It had these really lovely red curtains that enhanced the atmosphere even more. The prices were reasonable and there was a very good DJ who played house music. It was a really enjoyable night and I would recommend it to anybody.

It was Sunday and we wanted to find us a sports bar and watch some football, so we ploosed again. I was REALLY glad we found this sports bar named Proof NYC. The TV was wonderful, it was so big the game looked great on it, it was taller than me and I'm not short. The bar has hardwood floors and scarlet walls. The beer were on sale that day so we lucked out. It was the final day of our little holiday so we took it easy, watched the game, eat some food and enjoyed our beers.

We didn't want to call our last night in NYC and end too soon so we went to 'Blue Note' a pretty popular Jazz bar to finish the night. As a big fan of Jazz I can say I was hugely impressed, it's the best Jazz bar I have ever been in and if you also like Jazz then missing out on this place if you are ever in NYC is a criminal offense. The musicians were outstanding, the bar itself wasn't too crowded and was wonderfully decorated.

In other words New York City has a VERY wide selection of entertaining things to do. Because it was only a short weekend away we had to miss out on the Opera or a Broadway show, however our next trip is already planned and we will certainly check it out then.

Work hard, party harder, and get home safe.
